How we choose
We do not list every property in the Seychelles. We list the properties we would send someone we care about — the ones we have visited, stayed in, and assessed not from a press trip but from the perspective of a guest who has paid their own money and is trusting us with a significant week of their life.
The set below represents our current considered selection. Each property is accompanied by our honest verdict — what it is genuinely good for, and what it is not. A property can be beautiful and still be the wrong choice for your particular trip. We say so when that is the case. We also say who it is exactly right for, and in what season, and under what circumstances.
Our selection spans the full character of the Seychelles — from the seclusion of a whole-island private resort with a staff-to-guest ratio of five to one, to a small, considered property on La Digue that is five minutes by bicycle from the most photographed beach in the Indian Ocean. These are not competitors. They suit entirely different guests and entirely different intentions.
If you tell us who you are and what the week is for, we will tell you which property fits. We may recommend one that is not on this list — properties our team knows personally but that we do not yet publish. The set below is a starting point, not a ceiling.

How we assess a property
Five things we look for
Staff continuity
A property where the same people have been working for five years or more is a property where the service is real, not scripted. We ask how long the team has been in place.
Reef health
For any property that sells itself on marine access, we dive the house reef or review independent monitoring data before we recommend it. A healthy reef cannot be faked in photographs.
Conservation integrity
We distinguish between properties that make a genuine conservation contribution and those that use conservation language for marketing. The distinction is usually visible within the first hour of a site visit.
Transfer quality
The helicopter or boat that brings you in sets the tone for everything that follows. We ride every transfer we recommend. If it is poorly managed, the property does not make the list.
Honest fit
We consider whether a property is genuinely suited to the guests we send — families with young children, couples seeking silence, expedition guests with early morning schedules. A mismatch is a failed recommendation, regardless of the property's rating.
