Access and Inclusion
The Seychelles is not always an easy destination. We believe that should not mean it is the wrong one.
Our approach
Seychelles Travel Co. designs private journeys. The word private matters here, because it gives us the flexibility to adapt. We are not selling fixed-departure group tours where every guest follows the same path. We are designing an itinerary for your specific party, which means we can — and do — adapt every element to your needs.
We will not tell you an island is inaccessible without first understanding what accessibility means for you. We have arranged Seychelles journeys for guests with significant mobility limitations, guests who are deaf, guests managing chronic health conditions, guests travelling with elderly parents, and guests who simply need a slower pace and fewer steps between the beach and the bed. In almost every case, the honest answer was not "you cannot go there" — it was "here is how we make it work."
That said, we will always be honest with you. Some environments — the champignon limestone of Aldabra, the steep paths on Félicité, certain dive sites requiring strong swimming — genuinely require physical capabilities that not every guest has. We will never tell you otherwise, and we will always have an alternative in mind before we raise the limitation.
Mobility and terrain
The inner granitic islands — Mahé, Praslin, La Digue — have beaches and access points of varying character. Some of the most famous beaches in the Seychelles are reached via short, flat paths. Others involve steep descents across granite boulders. Our team walks every route we recommend. When we design an itinerary for a guest with mobility considerations, we specify the terrain at each stop.
The private island properties — North Island, Fregate, Denis, Desroches — are generally better suited to guests with mobility requirements than their remote reputations might suggest. Their paths are maintained, their transfers are private, and their staff ratios mean there is always someone available to assist. Several of these properties have designed specific villa categories with step-free access and adapted bathroom facilities.
We ask that you tell us, at the time of enquiry, about any mobility requirements in your party — not to screen you out, but to design correctly from the start. A villa that requires a steep climb to access will never be in your proposal if you have told us that steep climbs are a problem.
Transfers and transportation
All inter-island transfers we arrange are private. This matters for accessibility: you are not sharing a vessel with strangers who need to keep to a schedule, and you are not joining a group helicopter that requires a specific boarding protocol. Your transfer departs when you are ready and at the pace you need.
Helicopter transfers — used for North Island, Fregate, and some outer island routes — require guests to be able to board and alight independently, as the step height and rotor clearance make physical assistance difficult. We will advise you if a specific transfer is likely to require this, and we will always identify an alternative (charter flight or vessel, depending on the island) if helicopter transfer is not suitable.
Domestic ferry and catamaran services between Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue can be variable in sea conditions. We can arrange private charter boats for these routes, which offer greater control over boarding conditions and timing. Please ask us to include this option in your proposal if it would be helpful.
Dietary and medical requirements
Seychellois cuisine is naturally accommodating of many dietary requirements — the prevalence of fresh fish, fruit, and vegetables means that plant-based, gluten-aware, and allergy-sensitive options are available in most contexts. The private island properties we work with routinely design entire menus around their guests' needs.
Please disclose all dietary requirements — including allergies — at the time of enquiry. We pass this information to every property and every guide in your itinerary. If you have a life-threatening allergy, we will confirm in writing, before you travel, that each property and each meal context has been briefed and has confirmed its ability to accommodate safely.
For guests managing chronic medical conditions, please also share the details of any regular medication, medical equipment, or specific emergency requirements. The outer islands in particular have limited or no on-site medical facilities. We will help you understand what medical support is available at each location and will ensure that the Mahé medical routing — including the contacts for helicopter medical evacuation — is included in your pre-departure documentation.
This website
We have designed this website to be readable and navigable without specialist tools, using clear typographic hierarchy, sufficient colour contrast, and descriptive link labels. All images carry descriptive alternative text. The site does not autoplay audio or video.
If you experience any difficulty using this website — if you need information in a different format, or if a page is presenting a barrier that makes it difficult to submit an enquiry — please contact us directly by email at hello@seychelles-travel.com. We will respond within one working day and will make the information available to you in whatever format is helpful.
We are a small company. We do not have a dedicated accessibility team or a certified WCAG compliance report. What we do have is a commitment to answering every question ourselves, directly, without routing you through a contact form that someone else will read in three days. If something on this site is not working for you, tell us. We will fix it.
Travelling with children
The Seychelles is, in our experience, one of the best destinations in the world for children who are curious about the natural world. Giant tortoises that will eat from your hand, hawksbill turtles nesting on beaches you can walk to, reefs that start in knee-deep water — the islands reward young guests who pay attention.
Most of the properties we work with accommodate children of all ages. Some private island properties have minimum age policies — typically for operational safety reasons relating to helicopter transfers or deep-water activities — and we will flag these in your proposal. Several properties have dedicated children's programming, and our guides are experienced in adjusting their pace and language for younger guests.
For families travelling with infants or very young children (under two years), please let us know in your enquiry. We will design transfers that accommodate car seats and buggies, identify properties with appropriate cot and baby equipment, and brief your guide on the practical adjustments that make a long-haul trip with a young child manageable rather than heroic.
Talk to us
The best way to understand whether the Seychelles is right for you — and whether we are the right people to take you — is to have a conversation. Write to us at hello@seychelles-travel.com and tell us about your party, your requirements, and what you are hoping the week will feel like. We will tell you honestly what is possible and what we would design.
Tell us what you need. We will tell you what is possible.
